Hi, I'm Ari

I'm a software engineer based in NYC, working on targeted LLM model development at Amazon Ads. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2024.

I'm happiest on projects that force me to learn something I didn't know a month ago. That's most of why I like being early on things: before the boundaries are drawn, you still have to understand a problem before you can decide what to build for it. It's also why I'd rather own a problem the whole way down than hold one layer of it, since I have a hard time making good decisions about a system I only ever see a slice of. The work I find most worth doing is the part that makes a system dependable enough to trust with something that matters, which is usually less fun to talk about than what the system can do and usually matters more. That's especially true of the AI systems I work on now.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing basketball, rooting for the Wolverines, finding new excuses to use Claude, a good rabbit-hole session, and maintaining a painfully intermediate rating on Chess.com.
